A Cantamus Christmas

Holy Trinity Church, Bradford on Avon

An evening of evocative music and readings for Advent and Christmas including carols to join in. New carol settings by Cecelia McDowell and Lucy Walker join Otto Goldchmidt's A tender shoot, O Magnum Mysterium by Morton Lauridsen, a selection of reflective readings and joyful seasonal carols for a typically Cantamus Christmas. Bar open from 6.30 and during interval.

14th October 7.30pm in Cheltenham and 15th October 4pm in Bradford an Avon. Gorgeous choral music from the combined voices of Cantores and Cantamus Chamber choirs featuring a fabulous selection of works by Byrd, Howells, Stanford, Jonathan Dove and Bob Chilcott.

Another thrilling collaboration from Mike Daniels featuring GBH BIg Band, Cantamus Chamber Choir, WMC Chorus and incredible jazz vocalist in a wonderful reworking of Gershwin tunes including I Got Rhythm and Summertime, culminating in Fascinating Rhythm. There’s a boat that’s leaving soon and it ain’t necessarily one you’ll want to miss!

Gloria - Cantamus Chamber Choir

Enjoy a sunny afternoon at Holy Trinity Church, Bradford on Avon, with John Rutter's 'Gloria' and works by Bob Chilcott, James Macmillan and Paul Mealor, performed by Cantamus Chamber Choir with the Bristol Brass Consort and organist Steven Hollas, conducted by Mike Daniels. Cantamus celebrates 20 years with director Mike Daniels, in an ambitious programme of 19th century pieces including Haydn’s glorious last mass and the exquisite Alto Rhapsody with soloist Marie Elliott, men’s chorus and orchestra. Peter Kirk, choir alumnus and successful operatic tenor, returns to sing solo.

Silver Swan - Cantamus Spring Concert

Orland Gibbons' stunning madrigal The Silver Swan inspired the title for Cantamus' Spring concert with choral music based on a theme of birds and flowers. And a treat is in store with a piano trio performed by Trefoil : Steven Hollas - piano, Moira Alabaster - violin and Xander Baker - cello. Join us for a pre-concert drink in our pop up bar, open from 6.30pm.

Soulful Messiah director returns with a swinging family feast

Mike Daniels cooks up a sumptuous programme of Duke Ellington's legendary Sacred Concert, showcasing GBH Bing Band, featuring international jazz vocalist Tina May and the massed voices of local choirs.

Powerful swing, stunning jazz vocals, soulful choral singing and a show-stopping tap dance combine in this Sunday afternoon treat.

2023 

If you've not noticed we've been busy getting back to singing. Our recent Shakespeare themed concert This sceptred isle was well attended and a lovely evening. Summertime 2023 brings a new collaboration with GBH Big Band and WMC Chorus in a fabulous collection of songs - I got Gershwin - don't miss it on the 18 June. 

Upcoming events in the autumn include October 15 in Holy Trinity and our Christmas concert on Tuesday 19 December. More details nearer the time.

Cantamus Chamber Choir is a Wiltshire based amateur choir led by Michael Daniels. Cantamus regularly performs a wide range of chamber music and occasionally larger works often with other local and national groups. The choir holds concerts throughout the year in the Bradford on Avon region.
